Red tailed hawks

02-22-21-hawk

I drew this hawk as it flew over in February, last winter. I drew a second sitting red tailed hawk in April. And then, nothing until late August. And in the last two weeks, there are two hawks that have been predictably perching nearby. I see them in the morning when I walk to the river. And I draw them.

The Chimney

There's an interesting chimney I see every day when walk down to the river. The chimney itself is pretty basic and made from bricks. It's what's on top that sustains my interest. The chimney sports an old metal cap to keep the rain and wind out. It's cone-shaped with a round vane on one end that keeps the open end out of the wind. So it's a cool shape.

A tribe of starlings seems to think so too. I regularly see them perching on top of the chimney cap, it's round vane and the bricks beneath. They always make a fine silhouette early in the morning.
