If any of you live in the Boston area, I am showing twelve drawings and paintings at the Bacon Free Library which is located next to the Charles River where I have spent many mornings drawing my "Robservations." Below are some of the works on view. More info about the exhibit is here.

The Walnut Tree
Time is a luxury we would all do well to safeguard and appreciate. One way to do this is to examine a familiar thing and make a drawing of it. The walnut tree that grows over the river next to the bridge abutment is something I come back to frequently. Right now it is in full flower but in the winter I can study its branches. In the summer though, the mesmerizing overlapping patterns of its compound leaves are daunting. It's like playing tennis with someone who is much better but out of kindness, plays a competitive game with me. And then they flash their true authority. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.
